Safeguarding Children

Aims:

To be able to effectively safeguard children.

Objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of signs of at risk
  • Explore how to access support
  • Examine role of Local Safeguarding Children’s Board (LSCB)
  • Look at serious case reviews and lessons learnt

Target Audience:

This course is targeted for those who work with children who may be vulnerable or at risk. It allows you to identify signs of abuse, both physical and psychological and to act appropriately in line with LSCB guidance.

  • Following procedure- good practice
  • How to access support agencies
  • Legal duties
  • Serious case reviews and lessons learnt

Commentary:

The course is designed to provide a good grounding in safeguarding issues as required by the Every Child Matters reforms. It enables workers to recognize signs of at risk children and how to access appropriate support and help. In addition to fulfilling legal requirements and understand the local procedures and recording and reporting duties of child care workers. The use of case reviews enables an open discussion of important issues and provides staff with best practice guidelines.
