Manual Handling of People (1 day)
Aims:
To train participants in manual handling or people.
Objectives:
- Examine principles of lifting and handling
- Look at methods of safe manual handling of people
- Examine legal requirements
- Explore risk assessments
- Practice and demonstrate safe lifting techniques of people with a range of equipment
Target Audience:
This course is for candidates who are involved in the lifting, handling and moving of people in their work roles. It meets the Care Quality Commission for manual handling training.

- Safe lifting methods
- Risk assessments
- Protection from injury
- Structure of the spine
- Use of aids and equipment
- Using Hoist and slide sheets
- Moving people- safety considerations
- Working with clients
Commentary:
The course covers basic lifting and handling of people, and includes the use of slide sheets, hoists and transfer belts. This is a practical course and requires all candidates to demonstrate correct use of the equipment.
