SIA Close Protection
Aims:
To train participants in skills required for the SIA close protection licence.
Objectives:
- Explore roles and responsibilities of close protection
- Develop Conflict management skills
- Learn operational planning / risk assessments
- Learn required escorting skills
Target Audience:
This course is designed for anyone who wishes to work as close protection officer, runs over 3 weeks Monday-Friday, apply for dates of next course.
Course Content:
- Introduction Close protection
- Roles and responsibilities of close protection officer
- Dealing with conflict
- Use of equipment
- Bussing / debussing
- Patrol requirements
- Operational planning / risk assessments
- Close quarter combat
- Questioning and interrogation skills
- Dealing with bomb threats
- Protection and the law
- Emergency 1st Aid- including gunshots and knife wounds
- Field dressings
- Problem solving skills
Commentary:
This is an intensive course that covers all the basic aspects of close protection work. The skills are taught by specialist in the field drawn from military, emergency services and enforcement agencies. Candidates will learn a range of skills from unarmed combat, to planning and risk assessments. As part of the assessment candidates must be able to plan, implement and adapt to a realistic training scenario, as well as pass the multiple choice exam, and build a portfolio of evidence for skills acquired.
