PTLLS

Aims:

To achieve the national standard for the PTLLS.

Objectives:

  • Examine learning styles
  • Be able to plan a session
  • Be able to use a range of teaching techniques
  • Be able to deliver a micro teach session

Target Audience:

This course is aimed for those who wish teach or instruct students over the age of 16, it is the basic entry level qualification for trainers and instructors.

Course Content:

  • Legal framework
  • Learning styles
  • Structure learning environment
  • Session planning
  • Using a scheme of work
  • Micro teach for 15 minutes
  • Provide feedback on others micro teach
  • Prepare a file of evidence (portfolio)

Commentary:

This course covers the ability to plan and deliver a session, understand legal and ethical frameworks, as well as receive feedback and reflect upon own practice. It requires 6 assignments, one of which is a micro teaching session, to be delivered for a minimum of 15 minutes. Upon completion the candidate can progress to the Ctlls (Continuing to teach in the lifelong sector) course.
