Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)

Aims:

To train participants to HSE EFAW standard formerly appointed persons.

Objectives:

  • How to respond in an emergency
  • Learn CPR
  • Importance of the recovery position
  • Treat major and minor conditions

Target Audience:

This course is ideal for anyone who requires a basic knowledge of first aid in the workplace, it covers the Care Quality Commission requirements for staff to be first aid trained.

Course Content:

  • Principles of first aid
  • Using first aid kits
  • Legal duties-reporting
  • Assessing casualties
  • The recovery position
  • CPR
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Epilepsy and seizures
  • Choking, asthma
  • Shock
  • Casualty management
  • Assessment and endings

Commentary:

This course is a 1 day (6hrs) introduction to first aid in the workplace, it allows participants to achieve basic competency in emergency first aid, and is assessed by the tutor on the day. Upon completion candidates receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years. Can be delivered as required i.e. 2 x 3 hrs.
