  • Examine principles of lifting and handling
  • Look at methods of safe manual handling of people
  • Examine legal requirements
  • Explore risk assessments
  • Practice and demonstrate safe lifting techniques of people with a range of equipment

Target Audience:

This course is for candidates who are involved in the lifting, handling and moving of people in their work roles. Covering the Care Quality Commission outcomes.

  • Protection from injury
  • Structure of the spine
  • Use of aids and equipment
  • Using Hoist and slide sheets
  • Moving people- safety considerations
  • Working with clients


The course covers basic lifting and handling of people, and includes the use of slide sheets, hoists and transfer belts. As well as looking at any specific examples that course participants may have.
