Target Audience:

For anyone who is employing, thinking about employing a personal assistant. Or may be supporting and individual budget holder.

  • Understand differing ways of employment – self employed, PAYE, agency
  • Increased knowledge on legal requirements of employment as a personal assistant e.g. data protection, right to work in UK, contracts
  • How to be a Fair employer
  • How to pay for it- accessing personal budgets
  • Using agencies- your choices and options
  • Opportunity to discuss PA issues with existing PA and PA employer
  • Signposting to resources available Explore best practice guides for employment
  • Examine how confidentiality affects you
  • Being the Boss- support available for employers of personal assistants
  • Resolving disputes- best practice guidelines

Commentary:

This course provides an overview of the opportunities and pitfalls of employing a PA, it provides a foundation for which individuals can make an informed choice employing a PA. It also provides the opportunity to look at resources available to support those who wish to employ their own PA, or may be assisting/ supporting individuals who already have PA.
