Automatic External Defibrillation

Aims:

For candidates to develop competency in the use of AED’s.

Objectives:

  • Understand the cardio electrical rhythm types
  • Awareness of Anatomy and physiology of the heart
  • Competent practical use of AED’s
  • Understand the UK resuscitation council guidelines
  • Be able to perform basic maintenance of AED’s

Target Audience:

For anyone requiring competency in the use of AED’s In their home or work environment the course is run over 2 days (9-5).

Course Content:

  • Chain of Survival
  • Assessment of casualty
  • Heart structure and electrical pathways
  • Cardio electrical impulses and rhythm types
  • Competency in use of AED
  • Incident recording
  • Maintenance of AED equipment
  • UK Resuscitation Council guidelines
  • Assessment of candidates in action

Commentary:

In line with the UK and European resuscitation council guidelines on AED’s, It is mandatory that all candidates must pass the assessment in order to gain the qualification.
