Basic Life Support (CPR)
Aims:
To train staff in current Adult Basic Life Support procedures.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate correct Adult BLS procedure
- Demonstrate correct paediatric BLS procedure
- Examine placing a casualty into recovery position
- Dealing with choking and Anaphylaxis protocols
Target Audience:
For all HSE first aiders, there is a requirement for annual CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) update training, this BLS CPR course meets that requirement.

- DRAB Assessments
- Recovery position
- Priorities and principles of CPR
- CPR- UK Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Casualty management in emergencies
- The legal position -reporting
- Choking & Anaphylaxis
- Assessments
- Evaluations Certification and endings
Commentary:
The course is highly practical and requires a great deal of student /Teacher interaction. All students are required to undertake a mandatory assessment in order to gain certification. Anaphylaxis can be taken out of the syllabus or indeed taught as a separate half day programme in accordance with client requirements.
