Emergency First Aid at Work
Aims:
To train participants to HSE EFAW standard.
Objectives:
- How to respond in an emergency
- Learn CPR
- Importance of the recovery position
- Treat major and minor conditions
Target Audience:
This course is ideal for anyone who requires a basic knowledge of first aid in the workplace, it enables participants to respond to basic emergencies, and those wishing to enhance their skills can progress to the full FAW 3 day qualification.

- Principles of First Aid
- Using First Aid Kits
- Legal duties-reporting
- Assessing casualties
- The Recovery position
- UK resuscitation council guidelines
- Wounds and bleeding
- Epilepsy and Seizures
- Choking, Asthma
- Shock
- Casualty management
- Assessment and endings
Commentary:
This course is the HSE 1 day (6 hr) EFAW course, that meets care quality commission guidelines for staff, it allows participants to achieve basic competency in emergency first aid, and is assessed by the tutor on the day. Upon completion candidates receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years.
