Paediatric First Aid
Aims:
To train participants to perform emergency paediatric first aid.
Objectives:
- candidates will learn how to respond in an emergency
- Learn baby and child CPR
- Be able to correctly position casualties for differing conditions
- Treat major and minor conditions
Target Audience:
This course is ideal for anyone who works with children and requires a basic knowledge of first aid, it enables participants to respond to basic emergencies.
Course Content:
- Priorities and principles of First Aid
- Recovery position
- CPR- UK Resuscitation Council guidelines for children and adults
- Legal duties
- Wounds and bleeding
- Use of first aid kits
- Epilepsy and Seizures
- Responding to asthma attacks, choking
- Treating burns
- Childhood illnesses
- Meningitis
- Evaluations and endings
Commentary:
This course is a 2 day course for anyone who works with infants and small children. Mapped to the Early years foundation stage requirements, and Health and Safety Emergency first aid at work requirements. With a ratio of 1 instructor to 12 candidates, the certificate is valid for 3 years and meets Ofsted inspection and Care Quality Commission requirements.
