Managing Dementia
Aims:
To develop managers and supervisors skills to manage a dementia service.
Objectives:

- Carrying out a ‘dementia risk assessment’ for your service
- Positive challenging of inappropriate staff responses
- Reviewing Kitwood, personhood and malignant social psychology
Target Audience:
This is a level 3 course designed to support managers and supervisors within a dementia service.

Commentary:
The course provides a update for existing managers and supervisors on the current dementia approaches. It includes how to support staff who may be modelling inappropriate responses, and provide insight into the CQC inspection process. In addition it will include an update upon interaction skills including reality orientation, validation and the importance of personhood in improving the quality of life of clients.
